Nearly 100 people, representatives of the 26 partners of SATURNO (universities, research centers, companies), met at the Envipark for the official launch of the project.
SATURNO (acronym of Organic waste and Carbon dioxide Transformed into carburates, fertilizers and chemical products; concrete application of circular ecoNOmia) is a research project that aims at developing an integrated approach for the complete exploitation of waste matrices (including carbon dioxide) generated by the treatment of organic waste.
In particular, the project is divided into three research areas:
- creation of high added value compounds from the organic fraction of solid urban waste, in a sustainable biorefinery perspective;
- capture and enhancement of CO2 produced by cogenerators, cars and cement plants;
- separation and enhancement of waste plastics for the production of new components for the automotive sector.
